Mousse sur une tige

This sculptural trilogy is in continuity with the artist's production. The recurrent use of unconventional and constructive materials is a fundamental theme for Marianne. Polyurethane foam is the main subject of the work, the one that develops around a golden axis. The expression of movement is crystallized by a line that acts as a spine and exalts the properties of the foam. The foam twists, folds elegantly and draws graceful curves. Its texture has something mineral like sand that has coagulated to form an organic fabric. Semi-transparent, it absorbs light and one of its compass points shines in the sunlight. The material is set free and staged through a static pose.
"I immagine a woman's body and those fine folds of skin that sport sensual poses. The moss, like human tissue, shines in the sun with a thousand lights. I would like to caress, to touch, to make contact with this material that attracts the passion of touch."

Experimentation II

This research is built around a strong action : the one of "pushing through".  One cannot choose the final form, but it's the process that leads to it. The artist establishes initial conditions and a mouvement, which gives birth to an original object. The process is repeated and each time the original state is transformed into a unique finality. The clay fuses with the metal frame and intergrates it into its internal structure. Indissociable, they crystallize the liberating mouvement generated by the process and opens up new subtle scultural possibilities.

Not So Crazy Girls, art exhibition in Paris - september 2020

Expulsion is a project related to the research about plaster expression. We live in a world where boundaries shape our attitudes and behaviors, restricting our freedom and creating a sense of rejection for those who are different. But while society conditions us, it doesn’t stop there; it also conditions materials by forcing them to take a predefined form. Since the 20th, the principle of extrusion has been a prison for our materials, which are now only considered as a consumer product intended to satisfy our needs. The aim of this work is to redefine the potentialities linked to the intrinsic qualities of the plaster. One goal : liberate our landscape from this functionalism that conditions our way of being. These sculptures assert the liquid qualities of plaster as a liberation of matter, a liberating expulsion through this border grid. Redefining our landscapes goes through this need to redefine our conception of architecture: what if form was no longer an obligation but a multitude of possibilities that considered the materials and the potentialities they offer to us? New landscape, new conception towards a conscious and multidisciplinary design

Contemporary art exhibition in Vevey - september 2020

Marianne Ghorayeb was the curator of a temporary exhibition of contemporary art with different artists from the head, écal, and independent veveyans.  The concept of the exhibition is related to an indefinite walk around abstract and evocative objects. This research revolves around the potentiality of objects to create sub-space, suggest movement and progressive paths. Objects have this ability to interact with space and divide it into different environments. The "emptiness", this invisible matter in which we evolve is activated with the help of sound material from a strong geometric installation.

Research around plaster and concrete - 2019

This is a research experimenting around the new potentiality around materials such as plaster and concrete.

Column, EPFL Art exhibition - november 2019

Column is a creation for an art exhibition that took place in EPFL architecture school in November. It is a research exploring the capacity of the formwork to give a shape of the material. This experimentation turn around how to show the qualities of the plaster and the action of human hands pushing through a metallic grid. It reveals the liquid stage of this material.

Sculpture in plaster - research 2019

This work is based on the redicovery of the intrinsic and fundamental qualities of plaster. Between exploration and reconsideration, the journey begins in the abyss of the manufacturing Process itself; when the two materials - powder and water - consume each other and merge to give birth to a liquid paste. The Paste is cradled by a circular hand gesture that allows it to reach maturity. When the balnce is reached, all that is left to do is to pour it and watch the material spread, slip and release itself through the mesh. This industrial grid allows the division of the object into unitary and fragile fragments. Each released hair reveals its unique and personal character. Some are shy, others graceful, delicate or even fierce. The plaster is thus exalted and proudly displays its liquid properties through these hazardous flows.
